It will take you to the city of Ravenna in the discovery of six monuments of beauty and priceless. A real time travel.

Six monuments all UNESCO World Heritage Site. I tell their story and main characters that have animated some of the most incredible of our History. We will enter in the fifth century, the twilight of the Roman Empire, with the testimony here in Ravenna still intact tell their poignant story: violence and love, religion, heresy, war and power.

By Galla Placidia, her loves tormented, the pitfalls of his brother, the excesses of the children, until we come to the Emperor Justinian and his beloved Theodora and reckless with the intrigues of the Byzantine court, passing the first king of Italy (after Odoacer) : Theodoric the Great, who imposed his power by expressing it in an autonomous kingdom, the roots of our troubled national identity that will materialize only with the Risorgimento, 150 years ago, after centuries of foreign domination.

We will see the monuments and the city in its path more striking fact of architecture, mosaics, gardens. A smooth path, three hours in which I will show you, with the eye of art historian, something truly unique in the world.

My story comes from years of study and by a deep, accurate, full of anecdotes, made to be lived by the children or by those who have never practiced the historic territories or historical art. I will help you to appreciate and easily understand a fascinating period, rich and obscure to most. We'll discover how the ancient culture is the expression of great people but also very similar to us, so alive and full of impulses, right next door - in some ways - to our times. All this takes place in the setting of a small but great city that was the capital of the Roman Empire, and now walking in the beauty of its streets full of history but also hospitality, friendliness, service, and topped off from food and delicacies Romagna tradition.

Driving along the old town of Ravenna visiting the Justinian basilica of San Vitale, the Mausoleum of Galla Placida. We will cross the central Via Cavour and rich, full of trendy shops, clubs, and restaurants, for the short ride that Galla Placida will lead us to admire the Baptistery of Neon and his late ancient mosaics, the swan song of the last vestiges of imperial. A quick visit to the adjacent and small Chapel of St. Andrew (another Unesco World Heritage). Then, crossing the nearby Piazza San Francesco, we will see the tomb of the poet largest of all time: Dante Alighieri. Finally we reach the dazzling church of Sant'Apollinare Nuovo with all the splendor of its golden mosaics, so dazzling that a legend has it that Gregory the Great, seeing them, judged them too flash, even to a church and gave instructions to annerirli with the smoke of braziers . Returning to the starting point we will spend at the Arian Baptistery and finally cross the People's Square, urban masterpiece of the city with the traces and vestiges of Venetian rule.
